COMPANY DESCRIPTION
The Carterra name is based on two core concepts: Cartography (mapping) and terra (worlds); literally meaning “mapping worlds.” This represents the Company’s high-speed, high-resolution label-free biosensor technologies, which are being used by leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to thoroughly explore new worlds in biotherapeutic drug discovery that were previously impossible to investigate. This technology will allow researchers to make well-informed decisions early in the drug discovery process where risks and costs can be significantly mitigated.
Job SUMMARY:
Under direction of your manager, the Quality Technician is responsible for the test and release of multiple products ranging from instruments, fluidic subassemblies, reagents and solutions, chemical coatings and machine components. This is accomplished through the use of complex, proprietary test equipment and standard measurement techniques. The position will also support a variety of other activities necessary to support manufacturing, engineering and scientists.

- Is reliable and can work effectively in team environment.
- Can inspect incoming parts from suppliers using calipers, micrometers and similar techniques.
- Releases instruments by conducting and evaluating tests against specifications and coordinating quality reviews.
- Has the ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments and tests using our instrument and other standard lab techniques.
- Can prepare chemical solutions and pipette into plates in preparation of running QC tests.
- Ability to learn quickly and pick up on new technology.
- Follows standard operating procedures and is meticulous when it comes to documenting test results in accordance to GMP.
- Possesses good technical writing and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical information in a clear, concise manner.
- Can read and interpret technical documents; safety data sheets, prints, operating and maintenance instructions.
- Has excellent trouble-shooting skills, an aptitude for working with analytical equipment.
- Identifies and escalates non-conformances and drives for resolution
- Possesses analytical capability and has strong skills in MS Excel.
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Is able to safely handle hazardous chemicals and dispose of them appropriately, always using proper PPE.
- Understands there will be other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general labor.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Inspection or quality expertise with 5 years experience in the quality field
- Technically adept with preferably 5 years experience using complex analytical equipment
- Some experience working with chemical or biological reagents is desired
- Hard, independent worker with strong work ethic who prefers minimal direction
- Enjoys the challenge of a smaller, technology company where the answer isn’t always clear
- Travel required up to 20% of time
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma/GED required
- Associates degree in biology, chemistry, or other scientific discipline, or equivalent experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift 25 lbs.
- Able to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in performance of tasks.
- Able to wear applicable lab and manufacturing safety equipment.
