Our products allow researchers to identify potential targets early in drug discovery, where risks and costs can be significantly mitigated.

Job Summary

To support our expanding product portfolio, we are seeking an experienced scientist familiar with drug discovery applications who is passionate about developing new applications while helping build high-quality, market-relevant products for our customers. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to create new applications, validate, and launch products that deliver outstanding value to our customers and which align with the company’s vision and strategy.


  • Develop new application methods, data, and product collateral for prospective and current customers: application notes, white papers, posters, and manuscripts for journal publication and presentations. Partner with Carterra’s field applications team when needed
  • Develop technical documentation, including release notes and product manuals
  • Collaborate with product management to understand customer workflows and accurately translate them into product requirements. Represent the voice of the customer
  • Drive excellence in Carterra’s software suite including Navigator, Epitope, and Kinetic by collaborating with Carterra’s software development team
  • Understand and represent customer applications and workflows to the marketing team
  • Leverage a technical background in biosensors, assay development, drug discovery, or related fields to guide product development and sustaining priorities
  • Work closely with the VP of Marketing and drive KOL activity; outline product performance criteria by highlighting new features to grow Carterra’s market share in the label-free biosensor space
  • Lead hardware, software, and biosensor chip validation in collaboration with other scientists
  • Work closely with the commercial team to deliver training and technical guidance in customer support situations
  • Act as a product and applications evangelist to build awareness and understanding

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Translating assay requirements into practice and running various life science and drug discovery assays
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting scientific product data to internal and external audiences
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in the life sciences
  • Familiarity with applications, products, and processes in the life science market, particularly label-free SPR technology
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done while influencing the team
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams; a self-starter with a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to travel approximately 15-20% (higher if commuting to SLC)

Education and/or Experience:

  • A degree in the sciences (biology/chemistry/biophysics or equivalent). A PhD is desired
  • Experience in a marketing or a commercial organization leading application development
