Greetings, Carterra Users! We hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer. The Support Team at Carterra is very excited to keep you updated on all of the advancements in high-throughput SPR and improvements in our platforms. Please see our quarterly update below. It’s a good reminder of best practices and will bring you up to date with the latest.
Our chip consumables can be reused for multiple experiments. Please keep in mind that though we recommend a lifespan of roughly 15 experiments, this is just general guidance. The life span of chips is dependent on how clean the sensor surface is kept. Dried salt accumulating on the chip surface will diminish the quality of your data. If you plan on reusing chips, please follow the guidance below.
- When storing lawns for later use, fill the chip bath with 2 mL of 50% glycerol 50% running buffer in an airtight Tupperware® container at 4˚C.
- Ensure the glycerol solution is removed from the surface before reuse. Reusing capture lawns after storage significantly reduces the usability of the surface.
- When re-inserting a lawn in the LSA, ensure the glass prism sides are clean and free of spots. If present, clean with a 70% IPA/EtOH solution.
Please ensure that the glass slides that are used on the LSA are 1.2 mm. Failure to adhere to this guidance can cause excessive leaking which will result in unnecessary instrument downtime. Glass slides should be cleaned prior to every experiment and should be swapped out once a quarter to ensure high quality functionality. These can be found in our recommended consumables list.
New versions of Kinetics and Epitope software were released early this year! If you have not yet updated your software, please do so by logging into the Carterra web store and downloading the newest versions. There are also release notes that highlight the contents and features that have been modified.

The Support Team has curated a document that compiles technical tips, reminders, and guides for all things LSA. In this PDF, you will find advice for required maintenance, how to properly take care of your instrument, and how to prepare your experiments to achieve maximum success.
Feel free to print this PDF and attach it to the front of your LSA for optimal use and quick access.
The Carterra team is growing! We are hiring a West Coast Field Application Scientist for the Bay Area. If you are interested in this position, or know anyone who might be, please contact Daniel Bedinger at dbedinger@carterra-bio.com.
If you are a new LSA user or a customer in Europe, you can reach out to the Support team at support_eu@carterra-bio.com to ensure that you receive prompt responses despite the time difference.
If you are a new user of the LSA, you can reach out to the Support team at support@carterra-bio.com and introduce yourself. We would love to hear from you and begin building a relationship to facilitate the learning process.
